Need help understanding & don't know anyone dealing with thi

Post a new topicby questionslooming on Mon Mar 03, 2008 11:39 pm

I want to learn and understand more about transgender feelings and issues. My husband has recently confide in me that he has had these feelings for sometime now. I don't have a clue what to think or feel right now, my heads spinning. I'm trying to find a professional source to talk too about this, but until then I realy would like to talk to another person that has gone through this while in a hetrosexual relationship. I can't be the first person to go through this, and it would be more conforting to speak with someone else that has or is going through this too.

I do not know what you are going through, but I figured after a few days hearing from anyone would be good. There are a few things I did want to say. Everything you read makes it sound black and white. Its not. Don't be so freaked out that you don't ask lots of questions. "Feelings" can mean any degree of things and are probably scary for him just like they are for you. Also, I visited the PFLAG site and they have a transgendered section (the tab at the top is on the far right and yellow, I almost missed it). In case you don't know, PFLAG stands for Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, and now Trans as well. They are a group started by people with gay kids to help others go through exactly what you are going through. They help families and friends go through this process. They have a website: pflag.org . On the trans page they have a link: ways to get support. You can find a number of ways to find support there. There is even a phone number, feel free to call it, it is not just for emergencies.
You'll get through this. That's obvious from the fact you went online looking for information.
